About Us

Applied Industrial Logic

Applied Industrial Logic (AIL) is an open source software house specialising in IT solutions for the insurance market.  Our core product is an open source insurance solution called OpenQuote, an online  quotation system designed to remove the barriers traditionally associated with insurance software adoption, including high cost of ownership and slow time-to-market.

Traditionally, AIL has delivered its services to insurance organisations with their own IT resource and infrastructure, however our aim has always been to make insurance software that is accessible to all, including smaller companies where IT resource and budget is limited, this is where Quabis.com comes in.

Quabis.com

Quabis.com is a service designed to offer companies with limited IT resource and budget a way of marketing and selling their insurance products on the internet.  Delivering everything that you need in a single package, including website design, online insurance quote and buy facilities (powered by OpenQuote), hosting and support, Quabis.com can help transform your business.

OpenQuote

OpenQuote is an open source system, created by AIL to help reduce both the time-to-market and costs of web-enabling quotations for insurance products and schemes.  The software allows insurers, brokers and agents to efficiently release and maintain their products by configuring risk capture, risk assessment and rating rules. This enables businesses to react quickly to market changes, update products and deliver them to market quickly and efficiently via the internet.

OpenQuote can be configured to work for any line of business, it uses business rules (risk evaluation and rates) that can be set up in Excel spreadsheets. Many different insurance products can be run and controlled from OpenQuote at any one time.

Open Source

The OpenQuote insurance solution from AIL is Open Source, which for most users simply means it does not cost any money to licence for use. The name Open Source actually means the source code (program code) for the software is made freely available for anyone to look at, use, or contribute to.

So if the software is free to licence, how does AIL make money?  The answer is that we have developed a number of value added services around the OpenQuote solution, including Quabis.com.  It is from these services that our revenue is generated, allowing both AIL to grow and the on-going development of the OpenQuote to continue.
